DAY 1. Departure from your city and arrival in Tyrol

Today we will make our way to Austria passing magnificent river and mountain scenery. We will stop at a scenic restaurant along the river for lunch (included).
After lunch we will continue our scenic journey passing the historic cities of Cremona and Trento. We will reach the beautiful Inntal (the valley along the River Inn) region by late afternoon.
After checking into your hotel you will have a little time to relax before enjoying dinner at the hotel.

DAY 2. The Castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein

Today you are in for a wonderful experience as we visit the first two castles of your tour.
After breakfast at your Inntal hotel it is time to check out and enjoy a scenic drive to Fűssen. Here you will enjoy a guided tour of the impressive Hohenschwangau Castle where King Ludwig II spent part of his childhood. The castle was built in the 19thcentury by Ludwig’s father, King Maximillian II of Bavaria and is a remarkable example of Gothic Revival architecture.
After lunch we will continue to Ludwig’s spectacular Neuschwanstein Castle which is located on a rugged hilltop, surrounded by mountains and forests. (This fairy-tale castle was the inspiration for Disney’s Magic Kingdom). You will have some free time to explore before boarding the bus which will take you to your next hotel, located close to Munich.
Overnight and dinner at the hotel.

DAY 3. Nymphenburg Palace and Lake Starnberg

You have time for a delicious breakfast at your hotel before we set off to tour the very beautiful Nymphenburg Palace, located west of Munich. Nymphenburg is one of the largest palaces in Europe and was the summer residence of five generations of Bavarian rulers. You will join a guided tour of the lavishly decorated interior of the Baroque palace and there should be time for you to walk in the gardens.
In the afternoon we will take a short drive to beautiful Lake Starnberg which is where King Ludwig II drowned under mysterious circumstances on June 13th1886. If time permits you can take a short boat trip on the lake. (Not included in the tour).
You will return to your hotel near Munich to enjoy a delicious Bavarian dinner.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 4. Castle Herrenchiemsee

Breakfast is served at your hotel before you check out (tonight you will return to your Inntal hotel). Today you will visit King Ludwig’s “New Palace” and enjoy a scenic cruise on Lake Chiemsee, also known as The Bavarian Lake. The “New Palace” or Herrenchiemsee was constructed on the largest island in the lake and was modelled on the Palace of Versailles. This was meant to be King Ludwig’s most spectacular castle but it was still incomplete at the time of his death. You will enjoy a guided tour of this opulent palace and have free time to explore the wonderful grounds at your leisure before we commence the drive back to Inntal.
Dinner and overnight at your Inntal hotel.

DAY 5. Castle Linderhof and Oberammergau

Today is the last day of your tour and we plan to make it a memorable one!
We will start off by visiting Castle Linderhof, which is the smallest of the Bavarian castles and also the only one which King Ludwig managed to complete before his untimely death.
Linderhof Castle (or Palace) may be smaller than the other King Ludwig castles, but many consider this one to be the most beautiful. You can join a guided tour of the interior and the beautiful park and gardens.
This afternoon you will have free time to enjoy all the sights in the beautiful Bavarian village of Oberammergau, famous for its religious frescoes.
Later you will return to your hotel for a farewell dinner.

DAY 6. Tyrol – Lunch – Home.

Although the tour is nearly over you still have one day of scenic driving through Inntal and Tyrol to look forward to. We depart after breakfast and you will be back at home by early evening after a stop for lunch. (Included)
